Timmy and the Jets — or New York got Tebowed

The news out of the NFL today has given many much to discuss. Of course, with my own personal Tebowmania, the news about the Saints' supensions have to take a back seat to the trade of Tim to the New York Jets. (Sorry Who Dat Nation).

I can't say that I am happy about the trade, because I am not. I can't say I am happy about Peyton Manning going to the Broncos, because I am not.

But, I do have someone to blame — Josh McDaniels. That's right, the man who drafted Number 15 in the the first round is to blame for everything that has transpired in the last 24 hours.

McDaniels thought enough of Tebow to draft him in the first round in 2010. For that, he should be commended. But that is where the kudos end.

Had McDaniels started Tebow in the 2010 season and Tebowmania taken off as it did during 2011 — given the Bronco ended with the same finish that year as 2011 turned out, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

In an effort to protect Tebow in his rookie season, he sealed Tim's (and his own) fate.

It is quite possible Tebow would have rallied like he did this year (his few starts in 2010 weren't bad.) If that happened, McDaniels would still be the coach of the Broncos.

No John Elway. No John Fox. No Peyton Manning.

But that isn't what happened — and who knows what will happen from this point forward. All I know is that Denver may have lost the best thing they've had since Elway. And based on the actions of the past 24 hours, Elway and Denver don't deserve someone like Tim Tebow.

Go Jets (I suppose).
