As I stood on the scale and read the results, I knew something had to change. 300 doesn't look good no matter what height you are. Although, I was still wearing my shoes.
For the past several months, I have been exercising off and on (mostly off).. I've been watching what I eat.. sometimes. And no progress whatsoever.
It is time to go back to the tried and true way for me to lose weight. Time to start reading the labels and doing the math for "net carbs." Time to look to Dr. Atkins for help.
Yes, I know it is just a means to and end. Yes, I know you end up losing muscle and fat. Yes, I know it doesn't change the behavior that got me here.
That being said, I need to do something to jump start things. No diet and/or exercise plan works if you don't stick to it. Without measurable results, it is hard to stick to anything.
So here we go...
Trip to Wal-Mart -- check
Precooked bacon -- check
Precooked sausage -- check
Precooked chicken -- check
Seems there is a pattern developing...
Newman's Own Caesar Dressing -- check
Baby Spinach -- check
Drink mixes to put in water bottles -- check
An aside — Have you ever noticed how much you hate the taste of water when that is all you have to drink?
Parmesan Cheese -- Check
Pepper Jack Cheese -- Check
Pepperoni -- check
Salami -- Check
Low Carb Tortillas -- Check
And of Course...
Pork Rinds -- Check
This should be enough for lunches at work for the next couple of weeks. Just enough time to get through phase one...
I am cautiously optimistic. As much as I love things like bread and popcorn, this is never an "easy" route for me to go. But, there are some things more important that my appetite. I just hope that while I kickstart things, I also begin to change the bead habits...
Only time, and the scale, will tell.
