I come up with great ideas all the time. Ok, maybe not all of them are great, but they seem brilliant at the time.
These ideas happen at the strangest times. For instance, I have have been awakened by an idea a few times. I literally woke up from sleep and had an idea.
Other times, I have been blessed with an idea on my commute to work.
From blog entry ideas to new products and projects, I am sure these ideas will change the world. There is one small problem, though.
I forget the idea before I can write it down.
I can't tell you how many times I get to work with every intention of blogging about some great idea I had and "Poof!" it's gone.
I have heard of people keeping a notebook on their bed side table for such occasions in the middle of the night, but I never seemed to make that work — and what about the "Commuter Epiphany?" Can you imagine trying to jot down an idea while avoiding that idiot who is texting and driving? (yes, that was meant as a joke)
I think I may have a smartphone answer to the problem. I have the Evernote app on my iPhone and it has a handy little "microphone" I can click. It then records my voice and saves it "Out there" in the cloud.
When I get to the office and log in to my computer, "WALA!" it's there, ready for me to transcribe.
I am still quite early in the testing of this solution, but if all goes well, I should be able to solve all the world's problems by Friday — or realized I'm not as brilliant as I once thought.
Either way, problem solved.
